A no-fly zone in Iraqi Kurdistan and a no-fly zone in Iranian Kurdistan
The party of Labour of Iran (Toufan)
The goals behind the meeting of the seven parties and the Iranian Kurdish Nationalist and Separatist Organization
First: With the beginning of the military attacks on Iran and the twelve-day war of aggression, the nationalist and separatist Kurdish movements have also been mobilized. With the coordination of the US intelligence agency think tank and Israel, they brought together Iranian Kurdish parties and organizations and suspicious ethnic movements in the Kurdistan region, bringing them closer together to at least outwardly present them as allies and representatives of the Kurdish people. Opening a war front in northern Kurdistan with the help of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, which is under the influence of Mossad and the US, is of great importance. John Bolton, former national security advisor to Donald Trump, has repeatedly spoken about the importance of a military attack on Iran through Iraqi Kurdistan and the no-fly zone policy.
Second: It was recently reported on social media that on June 26, 2025 , the leadership of seven political parties in Iranian Kurdistan held a joint meeting online in a new effort to strengthen political coordination and unity..
The main purpose of this meeting was reportedly to discuss ways to form a "Council for Cooperation and Unity" and begin the process of developing a framework for this cooperation..
According to these reports, the seven parties that participated in the meeting are::
Mustafa Hejri – Secretary General of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (PDKI)
Abdullah Mohtadi – Secretary General of the Revolutionary Workers' Party of Iranian Kurdistan (Rebellious Party), (Iranian Kurdistan Party)
Ebrahim Alizadeh – Secretary of the Kurdistan Organization of the Communist Party of Iran – Komaleh (Komaleh Communist Party)
Hossein Yazdanpanah – Leader of the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK)
Babasheikh Hosseini - General Secretary of Khebbat Organization (Struggle) of Iranian Kurdistan - (Khebat)
Reza Kaabi – Secretary General of the Kurdistan Workers' Union (KZK) ( Workers' Union)
Ahtun Chiako – Representative of the Kurdistan Freedom Life Party (PJAK )
According to this report, only the leader of the Kurdistan Freedom Life Party (PJAK) was not present and had sent a special representative. The leaders agreed that a draft mechanism for future cooperation would be prepared, discussed, approved and considered in the next stages. This would be a prelude to the formation of a formal cooperation forum between the parties in Eastern Kurdistan .The report states that a team will be formed in the near future to prepare this draft, and more details will be released on how the council will be formed and areas of cooperation ..
It should be emphasized that all of these Iranian Kurdish parties welcomed the military invasion of Iraq, the overthrow of the Iraqi Baath regime, and the plan for a no-fly zone in Iraqi Kurdistan. None of these parties and organizations condemned the military attack on Iran and were waiting for an opportunity to overthrow the regime with the help of Israel and the United States, or, as a first step, establish a no-fly zone in Iranian Kurdistan as the weakest link in the division of Iran.
Third: The truth is that the establishment of no-fly zones has been one of the most important political and geopolitical issues among various world events in the past few decades, as it has led to a series of other changes and events. Among the important historical events in the Middle East that caused developments in this region was the establishment of a no-fly zone in Iraqi Kurdistan, an event that was a prelude to the formation of the Kurdistan Regional Government under the leadership of Massoud Barzani and Jalal Talabani, and paved the way for Mossad’s influence and the first experience of Kurdish rule that had international recognition and an “autonomous and independent” nature. The various experiences of no-fly zones in various countries around the world, including the former Yugoslavia, Libya, and Iraqi Kurdistan, are among the specific political actions that American and Israeli imperialism in Iranian Kurdistan have taken special note of. Given the recent US and Israeli attack on Iran and the plan to overthrow the regime, and the issue of the no-fly zone on the agenda, the meeting of seven Iranian Kurdish parties and organizations should be explained within this framework.
Thirty-four years ago, the Iraqi Kurds, with the support of American, British, and French imperialism, launched a major nationwide uprising against the Iraqi Baath regime and took the country's Kurdish cities out of the control of government forces. However, as a result of the extensive and intense attack by Saddam's army forces on Kurdish areas, a large-scale forced migration of Kurds took place to Turkey and Iran. Ultimately, the UN Security Council, under pressure from the United States, passed Resolution 688 to support the Kurds against Saddam, declaring a no-fly zone in northern Iraq.. International Group- Defense Group, United Nations Security Council Resolution 988, adopted on April 5, 1991, is an international document on Iraq. This resolution was adopted during the 2982nd session of Resolution 688 with ten votes in favor, three against (Cuba, Yemen and Zimbabwe) and two abstentions (People's Republic of China and India)..
The UN Security Council Resolution 688 declared the Kurdish areas in northern Iraq a no-fly zone. The request of activists from France, Iran, and Turkey and the expression of concern about the political repression of the Iraqi people, including those in Iraqi Kurdistan, were among the factors that led to its approval. The Security Council, while condemning the repression of the people by the Baath regime and demanding that "Iraq, as a contribution to eliminating the threat to international peace and security, end the repression and respect the human rights of its population," accepted the request to declare a no-fly zone in northern Iraq and approved this resolution.."
The Security Council also insisted that Iraq allow international humanitarian organizations access to the affected areas and asked the Secretary-General to report on the Iraqi and Kurdish populations affected by the repression..
France, the United Kingdom, and the United States used Resolution 688 to establish no-fly zones over Iraq and protect humanitarian operations in Iraq. This action is considered an "innovative" action at the United Nations, in which Security Council members disregarded the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of countries in response to internal repression in a country, and took practical and important action to protect the Iraqi Kurds, who were facing a serious risk of genocide by Saddam's regime.. It is worth noting that this "innovative" measure has never included the Palestinian people, and the genocide in Gaza, which is a thousand times more violent than the repression of the Kurdish people by Saddam Hussein's regime, has never been proposed in the Security Council for a no-fly zone.
The no-fly zone plan in Kurdistan was a plot for direct military intervention and the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime, which was realized after seventeen years.
Fourth: Thirty-four years ago, in March 1991, the Iraqi Kurds, with the help of Western imperialism led by the United States, established the basis for autonomy and the foundation for the formation of the current Kurdistan Regional Government, which has become a base of influence for the Mossad. This was initiated following the defeat of Saddam's forces in 1991 in the invasion of the imperialist allies led by the United States during Operation Desert Storm, which was carried out in response to and under the pretext of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.
Iraq's defeat against the US and its allies in Kuwait provided an opportunity for the Kurds, and the Rapirin and the Great Uprising, launched by the Kurdish Front, consisting of 7 Kurdish political parties, the main body of which was the Patriotic Union and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (Party), began on March 5, 1991, in the city of Raniya, known as the Rapirin Gate. After the city was liberated from the control of the Baathist forces, other cities and regions were liberated one by one by the Peshmerga forces..
With the declaration of a no-fly zone and the resulting security, the Kurds regained their vitality and were able to gradually return to their areas of residence. Kurdish parties, especially the Patriotic Union and the Democratic Party, also declared and established autonomy in these areas. In 2003, after the overthrow of Saddam's Baath regime by the American war machine, the constitution was changed and with the establishment of federalism, the Kurdistan Regional Government was recognized. The Kurds were able to become one of the main players on the geopolitical scene and in the region for the benefit of American imperialism and the Zionist regime of Israel..
Does what happened in Iraqi Kurdistan and what Kurdish parties achieved with the cooperation of American imperialism and the financial and spiritual support of Israel have any similarity to the goals of Iranian Kurdish parties and organizations, which have changed their nature for years and whose relationship with American imperialism and Israel is the sun of the sun? The answer is yes. All Iranian Kurdish parties have defended the American aggression against Iran and the tightening of economic sanctions in recent years, and now, during the twelve-day war, not only did they not condemn it, but they have even welcomed it. The recent meeting of the seven parties and organizations of Iranian Kurdistan should be examined in the light of the recent Israeli and American aggression against Iran. Such a meeting is not at all accidental.
Fifth: From the perspective of our party, the force that presents American imperialism as an ally in the path of self-determination will be a traitor and a mercenary of imperialism. The leaders of the Iranian Kurdish parties, from Hijri and Mohtadedi to those who speak in the language of "leftism and labor" or the Syrian Kurds who operate under the name of "Rojava and self-management", are among these mercenaries of imperialism and do not want to establish a democratic and independent government for all residents and citizens of society regardless of ethnicity, nationality, religion and creed... American imperialism has not been in any part of the world that has not violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries. The imperialists themselves do not hide it, but their mercenaries cover up America's crimes. Those who want to pour cleansing water on imperialism by any name and make it appear that this imperialism is a union of peoples for national liberation and the establishment of democracy, only reveal their hostility to other peoples and show how far they will go to realize their national-chauvinist ideas, which are in fact the genocide of other peoples. National-chauvinism is an accomplice of imperialism and Zionism, especially in the Middle East region. Look at the massacre of the people of Gaza, look at this barbarity and genocide after October 7, and the shameless silence of the Iranian Kurdish organizations, Rojava in Syria, and the Turkish Kurds organized in the PKK... is truly shameless. This complicity with Zionism is contemporary fascism and violates the right of nations to determine their destiny and tramples on the most basic human rights. Look at the positions of these parties on the Israeli and American attack on Iran. These movements not only did not explicitly condemn it, but they welcomed the weakening of the Iranian regime by Israel and the United States and evaluated it positively.
The criterion for determining whether a movement and protest in the region is revolutionary is its anti-imperialist and anti-Zionist content. No communist or revolutionary fighter can confirm the complicity of the national-chauvinist Kurds with imperialism and Zionism in the region on the grounds that the "Kurds" are behind it. It is not possible to justify every betrayal and crime by attributing it to the Kurds. Complicity with imperialism will never lead to the right to self-determination, but rather to the right to self-determination by imperialism and Zionism, and this situation where these dependents of imperialism will forever need these supporters of imperialism in the region will have no end. Then imperialism will find a military base in the region and aggression against other peoples in the region. This reactionary movement, separatist meetings and initiatives, and whispers of a no-fly zone must be vigorously fought. If things have reached a point today where Kurdish nationalists, with shamelessness and an aggressive stance, even consider themselves to be complicit with imperialism and Zionism, and present them as their strategic allies and pave the way for the massacre of the peoples of the region at the hands of these international butchers, it is because the opportunistic Iranian opposition has not fought this ideology and has always appeased them, established an alliance of action, and created a united front that is only against the interests of the peoples of Iran and the region. This opportunistic, Trotskyist, and bread-lending opposition has lost all precious opportunities for struggle, because it no longer has an ideal or a clear line between friend and enemy. The opportunistic Iranian opposition still cooperates sincerely with the Israeli Workers' Communist Party instead of fighting it, and is indifferent to this national betrayal. This opposition is appeasing the Communist Party of Komala, which is a raging mob infected with the virus of Mansur Hekmat and Trotskyist ideas, and giving it credit to implement its reactionary policies with the support of "Persian organizations."
Sixth: The Labor Party of Iran (Tofan) in the 21st century has repeatedly pointed out the global and expansionist role of imperialism and its accomplice in the region, Zionism, and has always criticized their economic policy, which seeks to bind the world to the neoliberal network of big capital, and their patriotism, which defends the national interests and anti-imperialist interests of their country, with anti-patriotic and "internationalist" Zionist-made theories, which are imperialist internationalism and not proletarian internationalism, and who pass off imperialist expansionism as progressive. It has also fought and continues to fight against the "communists" who are servants of imperialism and Zionism, who dance every day in the shoes of one of these imperialists and their regional servants.
The Labor Party of Iran (Tofan) will never support struggles that do not have an anti-imperialist and anti-Zionist theme and will try to link every democratic struggle and social demands with this progressive theme so that the whole can be recognized from the rest and the healthy popular front can be distinguished from the gangs that are accomplices of Zionism and imperialism and enemies of our homeland. Any change and transformation in Iran, including the overthrow of the capitalist system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, must only be carried out by the hands of the Iranian people and with the theme of the anti-imperialist and anti-Zionist struggle, otherwise there is no guarantee for Iran's liberation from the clutches of the tyranny of the Islamic Republic regime and anti-national and autocratic regimes.
